Hi, I’m Michael Eisen
SENIOR USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER

Past
My experience in the tech industry has spanned 10+ years, starting with my undergraduate studies. These studies focused on business, management information systems, and psychology. I completed 3 co-ops and took jobs where I was an analyst in many forms, including marketing, business, data, SEO, and emerging technologies. I also explored entrepreneurship via a hospitality startup and my own automotive detailing company. I enjoyed examining how businesses work and wanted to become a business analyst to document and improve processes. However, I soon realized that my true passion lay in human interactions with technology. This revelation led me to the University of Washington (UW), where I earned a Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction and Design. During my time at UW, I learned the end-to-end design process and refined my ability to think critically about design decisions.
Present
For the past 3+ years, I have been a UX Design Consultant at Think Company, working closely with teams at a Fortune 50 company to translate complex user processes into simple, intuitive workflows that improve user and business outcomes. I enjoy working with clients to foster cross-functional communication, adopting research-driven approaches to address problems appropriately, strategizing design-driven product improvements, and bringing products to life through detailed specifications and prototypes.
Future
In the future, I’d like to join a company where I can sink my teeth into complex problems with a passionate group of people. Ideally, this company would have a collaborative, design-driven, and end-user-focused product culture.
My Design Philosophy
I believe understanding the “Why” before jumping into solutions is critical to addressing problems appropriately. A research-driven approach facilitates understanding the “Why”.
I believe in a content-driven approach to design. Understanding and organizing information early in the process ensures the designed experience meets users’ information needs.
Great design requires strong collaboration from an eclectic group of people. This ensures the strengths and perspectives of each contributor can be leveraged in the end product.
I believe a strong UX Designer absorbs the understanding of multiple disciplines and synthesizes them into a deceptively simple experience that addresses user, business, and technical needs.
Personal Interests
In my free time, I like to travel, learn about new technologies, work on and read about cars, run, shoot film photography, and enjoy good food with great company.
